If someone else walks, sits or shares your pet, you can give them access to the same live map you see. It's controlled by a single Family Sharing permission.
The permission you need to grant
In Family Sharing, the permission is called:
Location Tracking — "Access to GPS tracker on shared pets"
Turn it on for that family member and they get the full picture. Setting up Family Sharing and inviting people is covered in the Family Sharing articles of this help center.
What it unlocks for them
With Location Tracking on, a family member can:
- see your pet's live position on the GPS Tracker map
- start and watch LIVE Tracking, including the live trail
- open trips and stays in Location history
- use the heatmap on the Location tab
They'll also receive your pet's safe zone and no-go zone alerts — for example "{pet} has left {zone}", "{pet} has arrived at {zone}" and "{pet} entered a restricted area". Repeat alerts for the same crossing are held back for a minute so nobody gets a burst of duplicates.
What they see without it
Without the permission, a family member sees Tracker access restricted — "You don't have permission to view or manage this pet's GPS tracker. Please contact the pet owner for access."
If a family member reports seeing this, they simply need the Location Tracking permission switched on by you.
As the pet owner, you always have access
Owners have this permission automatically — there's nothing to enable for yourself.
Please note: new positions are pushed straight to your phone as the pet owner, but a family member's map picks them up on a short refresh cycle instead — during a LIVE session that's every 10 seconds. Both are showing the same position; theirs just catches up a moment later.
