You don't need to pick a vet — when you send your question, a licensed vet is assigned to your chat automatically. Here's how that works and where you can see who you're talking to.
You don't choose the vet
There's no vet picker in the booking flow. Once you tap Send to Vet, your request goes to the vet assigned to handle chats, and their name appears on your Waiting for a Vet screen straight away.
Where you see your vet
| Where | What you see |
|---|---|
| Waiting for a Vet | The assigned vet, while your request is being picked up |
| The live chat header | Dr. \<name>, with a subtitle of Active now, Last active \<time>, Offline, or the reason you gave for the consultation |
| Vet profile (tap their name) | Their degree, what they specialise in, and a short About bio |
When a vet picks up your request
- The vet accepts your request.
- A note appears in the conversation saying "\<Dr. Vet Name> has joined the chat."
- Your waiting screen swaps itself for the live Vet Chat screen automatically.
You'll also get an email titled "\<Dr. Vet> is ready to chat about \<your pet's name>".
Please note: vets can accept a request, end a chat, or leave a request unanswered — there's no "decline". So you'll never get a rejection message; a request that hasn't been picked up simply stays on Waiting for a Vet.
If nobody picks it up
You can cancel and try again at any time while you're still waiting. See "No vet has answered my request" for what to do.
