Barking alerts let you know when your dog barks a lot in a short space of time. You choose how sensitive the alert is and which hours of the week it watches. It only takes a minute to set up.
Turn barking alerts on
- Open your pet's profile and tap GPS tracker settings.
- Tap Barking alerts.
- Turn on the Barking alerts toggle — "Get notified when your dog barks frequently in a short time."
The settings row now reads Barking alerts are on.
Choose how sensitive the alert is
Two sliders decide when an alert fires. Both save as soon as you let go of the slider.
| Slider | What it sets | Range | Out of the box |
|---|---|---|---|
| Barking cycle | How long a detection window lasts | 1 to 10 minutes, in one-minute steps, shown as e.g. "5 min" | 5 minutes |
| Barking count | How many barks inside that window trips the alert | 10 to 100 barks, in steps of 5 | 10 barks |
Tip: A longer cycle with a higher count is less twitchy. A short cycle with a low count will alert on shorter bursts.
Add a detection schedule
Alerts only fire inside a scheduled window, so at least one schedule needs to be active. Look under the Barking detection heading.
- Tap Add schedule. A new schedule is pre-filled with Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00.
- Pick the days and the start and end time.
- Save.
You can have up to two schedules — Schedule 1 and Schedule 2. The Add schedule button only appears while one of the two slots is still free. By default a new tracker watches every day, 00:00–23:59.
Schedules are summarised for you: "Mon - Fri, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM", "Every day" when all seven days are picked, or "Mon, Wed, Fri" for days that aren't in a row. Weeks start on Monday. If you have no schedules at all, the screen shows No detection schedules yet.
Edit or remove a schedule
- To change a schedule, tap Edit on that row.
- To delete a schedule, open it and tap Remove schedule.
- Confirm at "Remove schedule?" — "This schedule will no longer trigger bark alerts."
Please note: Two validation messages you may see while editing: "End time must be after start time." and "Select at least one day."
How saving works
Your settings are stored in your Ask A Vet account first and then sent to the collar. If the collar can't be reached right now, the app stays quiet and we automatically retry sending them, once an hour, until the collar confirms.
