Lost a tag? Moving it to another pet? You can switch a tag off temporarily or release it completely. This article explains the difference so you pick the right one.
Jump to:
- Deactivate a tag — switch the page off for now
- Reactivate a tag — switch it back on
- Delete a tag — move the tag to another pet, or the tag is gone for good
Open the tag menu
- Go to Settings → Manage QR tags to see every tag on your account, or open a pet's profile and tap QR Tags to see just that pet's tags.
- Tap the … menu on the tag you want to change.
Each tag in the list shows the pet's photo and name, an Activated: or Deactivated: date, and ID: {code} so you can match it to the physical tag in your hand.
Deactivate a tag
Tap Deactivate QR tag. The tag stays linked to your pet, but its public page stops working — anyone who scans it sees "This tag is no longer active".
Use this if the tag has been lost or you simply don't want it readable right now.
Reactivate a tag
Tap Activate QR tag on the same menu. The page starts working again with the privacy settings you had before.
Please note: A GPS tracker's QR tag is deactivated automatically when you unpair the tracker. To switch it back on, pair the tracker to your pet again.
Delete a tag
- Tap Delete QR tag.
- You'll be asked to confirm: "Delete QR tag? — If you delete this QR tag, the public profile linked to it will no longer be accessible. You can link a different QR tag to this pet at any time."
- Tap Confirm to go ahead or Not now to back out. You'll see "Your QR tag has been deleted successfully."
Deleting does not destroy the code. It unlinks your pet and releases the tag, so the same physical tag can be scanned and activated again later — on the same pet or a different one.
Tip: This is how you move a tag from one pet to another: delete it, then activate it again and pick the new pet.
Things that happen automatically
- Deleting a pet releases all of that pet's QR tags, so they can be re-used.
- Removing a shared pet from a family releases the tags that were activated for that pet through family sharing, in the same way.
