The Home tab has two views: a list of your pets, and a map showing every pet wearing a GPS tracker. The map is the fastest way to check that everyone is where they should be, without opening each pet one at a time.
Switch between List and Map
At the top of Home you'll see two tabs:
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| List | A card for each of your pets. This is the view Home opens on. |
| Map | One marker per GPS tracker, at that pet's last known position. |
Tap either tab to switch. The floating button in the corner stays available in both views, with Scan QR Tag and Add Pet.
Please note: if you haven't added a pet yet, Home shows "No pets added yet" instead of the two tabs. Add a pet first.
Reading the map
The map automatically frames itself so every tracked pet fits on screen.
Each marker is the pet's photo, and a small label above it rotates every five seconds through whichever of these apply:
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| here for | How long since that tracker last reported its position |
| Here | The name of the safe zone your pet is currently inside |
| Power saving | The network name of the power-saving zone your pet is in |
| GPS signal is not available | The position is approximate, not a true GPS fix |
| Last seen at or Last seen | How long ago the position was reported, when it's no longer fresh |
A second badge on the marker rotates through your pet's ambient temperature, battery level and signal strength. These only appear while the tracker is online, or while your phone is connected to it over Bluetooth — so the numbers you see are never stale.
Markers for offline trackers are dimmed, but still shown at their last known position.
Tap any marker to open that pet's full GPS Tracker screen.
"GPS not available"
If a tracker is paired but hasn't reported a position yet, the map shows a notice reading GPS not available — "Waiting for your pet's first location. This can take a few minutes."
This is normal straight after pairing. The tracker needs a clear view of the sky for its first fix.
If you don't have a tracker yet
When none of your pets has an active tracker, the Map tab shows See your pets on the map instead of a map, explaining that a GPS tracker is needed to see live locations here.
Tap Buy a tracker and your browser opens https://askavet.com/pages/trackers.
